What does an AI video cost? How the price takes shape

How the price takes shape, three routes, and the question of what the quote includes.

November 5, 2026 · QLTY media

What an AI video costs cannot be answered with a single number. The price depends on what the video must achieve and which work the quote includes. A reliable budget needs more than an hourly rate or package price.

Why prices alone are not enough

A price without a scope description helps little. The term AI video covers very different results: a simple explainer, a short social post, a product presentation, or a photorealistic film.

Scope differs as well. Does your company already provide text, images, and a clear idea? Or do concept, design, and voice-over have to be created first? Are edit, sound, subtitles, and revisions included? Who checks that the result fits the brand?

For products, accuracy matters. A moody image is one thing; a rendering that reliably shows shape, material, and function is another. Without these requirements written down, quotes are hard to compare.

The decisive question is: which finished deliverable do you get for the stated amount? A low entry price says nothing about the cost up to publication.

What an AI video really costs

We do not price AI videos by package, but by the effort your project requires. Three factors set the price.

Film type
Explainer, product presentation, or commercial
Length
up to 60 seconds, 1 to 2 minutes, 2 to 4 minutes
Shoot days on site
none, one, or several

The cost benchmark calculator on our website turns exactly these three factors into a range of 0 to 30,000 euros. The result is a non-binding orientation. Concept, shoot, edit, and acceptance are included.

What the benchmark does not include: number of versions, usage rights, voice language, and additional revision rounds. We clarify these points in the initial consultation and fix them in the quote.

AI production does not push costs into a package; it shifts them. Fewer shoot days and fewer people on set mean more work in concept, image generation, and review. For your budget, what counts is the effort up to a usable video, not the price per minute.

Three routes to an AI video and their pitfalls

Anyone commissioning an AI video has essentially three routes. Each has its own pitfall:

Tool subscription

Your team produces the video in-house. This can work if time, design experience, and clear ownership exist. The pitfall is the cost comparison: the subscription pays for access to software. Concept, experiments, selection, and post-production remain your team's work. Count that work in.

Freelancer

You hire a self-employed specialist. This makes sense when the task is clearly defined and someone internally handles review. Check what is included. Who develops the idea? Who handles sound? Who applies changes? Unclear responsibilities make budgeting hard.

Production company

You commission a production company. Concept, execution, review, and acceptance should be described clearly. The pitfall is a quote that sounds comprehensive but leaves out key deliverables. The number of included revision rounds, extra versions, and later changes should be visible in the quote.

The right route also depends on how much work your company can take on. What counts is the effort up to a usable result.

How your budget takes shape at QLTY

QLTY media from Cologne works by this principle: prototype first, then budget. Before you commission the full production, it should become visible whether imagery and message work.

The prototype makes the idea testable. Does the visual style fit? Does the product look credible? Does the statement work? Such questions are easier to discuss on a concrete draft than on a general service promise.

The prototype is paid and agreed at a fixed price in advance. Its price is credited against the production if you commission afterwards.

On this basis the scope is defined: required content, versions, production steps, and revisions. A fixed price is then set for the agreed scope. Additional wishes must appear as additional services.

QLTY has existed since 2015 and combines film, social media, and AI content. Clients include Ford, DHL, Telekom, Bosch, and DEVK. For your budget, what matters is which services your concrete project needs.

Compare the cost up to the usable video, including your own work.
